Zeekr X pricing revealed: $48,900 driveaway for updated electric SUV

Zeekr has unveiled the pricing for its updated Zeekr X electric SUV, setting the rear-wheel drive (RWD) model at $48,900 driveaway and the all-wheel drive (AWD) version at $57,900. These figures position the refreshed Zeekr X competitively against rivals such as the Tesla Model Y RWD and an expanding range of Chinese electric vehicles. The pricing announcement follows a recent test drive that highlighted meaningful improvements, with the cost expected to be a key factor in attracting buyers. The updated Zeekr X benefits from a performance boost, with the RWD variant now delivering 250kW and the AWD model increasing to 365kW combined, enabling a claimed 0–100km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds for the AWD. Charging capabilities have also been significantly enhanced, particularly for the RWD model, which now supports up to 230kW DC fast charging and can recharge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 18 minutes—about 12 minutes faster than before. The AWD retains a 150kW DC charging rate with a 30-minute charge time to 80 per cent, while AC charging speeds have been raised to 11kW and 22kW respectively, aligning better with typical daily charging habits. Despite these upgrades, the Zeekr X’s driving range remains largely unchanged, rated at 405km WLTP for the RWD and 415km for the AWD. While these figures are adequate, they lag behind some competitors who continue to push for longer ranges. Zeekr appears to be banking on enhanced performance, faster charging, and a well-equipped interior to appeal to buyers rather than competing solely on range. The refreshed interior features improvements such as heated seats for both front and rear passengers, a 13-speaker Yamaha sound system, and upgraded cabin finishes offered as standard across the range rather than as optional extras. The AWD model stands out with luxury touches like massage seats and a built-in fridge, underscoring Zeekr’s focus on delivering a feature-rich experience. Early buyers are being incentivised with offers including a home charger, colour upgrades, and extended warranties for orders placed before the end of May. Overall, the Zeekr X update positions the electric SUV as a strong contender in the sub-$60,000 segment, balancing competitive pricing with notable performance and comfort enhancements. While it does not push the boundaries in terms of range, its fast charging and equipment levels could prove decisive in a crowded and rapidly evolving market.
