Zeekr reaches major milestone in the premium EV market

Summary By: eMotoX
Chinese electric vehicle brand Zeekr has achieved a significant milestone in the Australian premium EV market, surpassing 5,000 deliveries of its Zeekr 7X electric SUV since its launch in late 2025. The model recorded nearly 2,000 sales across April and May alone, with 973 units sold in April and over 960 in May. This strong performance has positioned the 7X among the top-selling electric SUVs in Australia, even outpacing the Tesla Model Y in April, though the Model Y maintained a substantial lead overall. The Zeekr 7X’s rising popularity is attributed in part to its multiple automotive awards and its competitive specifications. The SUV offers a range of variants, including a rear-wheel-drive entry model with a 75 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery delivering up to 480 km of WLTP range, and a Long Range version with a 100 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery capable of up to 615 km. High-performance AWD and Black Edition models provide rapid acceleration and strong torque, alongside advanced features such as an 800-volt battery architecture enabling ultra-fast DC charging and vehicle-to-load capabilities. Frank Li, managing director of Zeekr Australia, highlighted the company’s confidence in maintaining momentum throughout the year, citing sustained demand, expanded retail presence, and a robust product pipeline as key factors. The brand has also experienced a surge in customer interest, with website enquiries rising by 280 per cent and traffic increasing by 173 per cent over six months. Zeekr plans to broaden its Australian lineup later this year, aiming to consolidate its position in the competitive premium EV segment. The Zeekr 7X’s success reflects a growing appetite for premium electric SUVs in Australia and demonstrates the brand’s ability to challenge established players like Tesla and BYD. Its combination of performance, range, and innovative technology is resonating with consumers, suggesting that Zeekr is well placed to expand its footprint in the evolving electric vehicle market. As the company continues to scale deliveries and enhance its offerings, the premium EV landscape in Australia is likely to become increasingly diverse and competitive.
