The company has partnered with B2U Storage Solutions to transform retired EV batteries into grid-scale energy storage systems, providing a second life for these batteries beyond their automotive use. This move supports the development of more sustainable electricity grids in the regions where Waymo operates, notably California and Texas. The repurposed batteries will help balance local electricity grids by storing surplus renewable energy during off-peak hours and releasing it when demand peaks. B2U Storage Solutions brings patented technology to integrate these EV batteries into large-scale storage systems, enhancing grid stability and enabling more efficient use of renewable power.
