VinFast Scales Up In Asia As MPV 7 Electric 7-Seater Debuts In The Philippines

Summary By: eMotoX
Vietnamese automaker VinFast has officially launched its electric MPV 7 seven-seater in the Philippines, marking a significant step in its expansion across Asia. The move targets the country’s substantial multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) market, which represents nearly 20% of local vehicle sales, positioning the MPV 7 as a modern electric alternative for multi-generational families traditionally reliant on combustion engines. This launch follows successful introductions of the model in India and Indonesia, underscoring VinFast’s broader regional ambitions. The MPV 7 features a spacious design with a 2,840 mm wheelbase that maximises cabin and cargo space, offering up to 1,240 litres of storage. Powered by a 150 kW electric motor and a 60.13 kWh battery, it delivers an estimated range of 450 km under NEDC standards. VinFast is promoting flexible ownership through a battery subscription model, which lowers the upfront cost to approximately PHP 1.24 million (£18,900), with monthly fees based on mileage, making the vehicle more accessible to Filipino consumers. VinFast is also backing the MPV 7 with a comprehensive aftersales package, including free charging at V-Green stations until March 2029, a seven-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty, and a ten-year or 200,000 km battery warranty. Early adopters benefit from incentives such as a free year of battery subscription for the first 1,000 buyers and direct discounts for those opting to purchase the battery outright. These measures aim to encourage the transition to electric mobility while reducing the total cost of ownership. Antonio Zara, CEO of VinFast Southeast Asia, emphasised the company’s long-term commitment to the Philippine market, highlighting the MPV 7’s blend of spaciousness, performance, and sustainable value as a benchmark in the segment. VinFast is expanding its dealership and service network nationwide, from major urban centres to smaller towns, to support a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem. This strategic rollout reflects the company’s ambition to establish a strong foothold in the region’s growing electric vehicle market.
