Suzuki confirms pricing of e-Vitara, with pre-order special at $46,990
Summary By: eMotoX
Suzuki has unveiled the pricing details for its first electric vehicle in the Australian market, the e-Vitara, offering two variants: the entry-level Motion and the premium Ultra. As part of a pre-order campaign for the first 100 customers, the Motion variant is priced at $46,990 drive-away, while the Ultra is available for $56,990 drive-away. After this initial offer, prices will rise by $3,000 for the Motion and $2,000 for the Ultra, bringing the respective prices to $49,990 and $58,990. These figures represent a notable premium compared to the petrol versions of the Vitara, which range from $34,590 to $39,490 before on-road costs, though the electric model’s lower running costs could offset the initial price gap over time.
In terms of specifications, the e-Vitara Motion is a front-wheel-drive model powered by a 106 kW electric motor paired with a 49 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate battery, delivering an estimated WLTP range of 344 km. The Ultra variant steps up with an all-wheel-drive system, a 135 kW motor, and a larger 61 kWh battery, extending the range to 395 km. Both variants support fast charging at up to 70 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in approximately 45 minutes, although this is slower than some rivals targeting closer to 30 minutes. AC charging options are also available, with the larger battery taking around five and a half hours for a full charge via 11 kW power.
The Ultra model boasts additional premium features including adaptive high beams, front LED fog lamps, a glass roof with shade, an upgraded Infinity sound system, front heated seats, and premium upholstery, setting it apart from the more basic Motion variant. Safety is a key focus, with the e-Vitara equipped with seven airbags and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring. These contribute to a respectable four-star ANCAP safety rating, reflecting Suzuki’s commitment to occupant protection despite the competitive price point.
Suzuki’s entry into the electric SUV segment with the e-Vitara represents a strategic move to expand its portfolio beyond traditional petrol models and tap into the growing EV market. While the pricing premium may challenge some buyers, the combination of competitive range, practical features, and Suzuki’s reputation for reliability could attract customers seeking a compact electric SUV. The success of the e-Vitara will hinge on consumer response to its value proposition amid an increasingly crowded electric vehicle landscape in Australia and beyond.
