Subaru launches new Uncharted electric SUV in Australia, cuts prices on Solterra and Trailseeker
Summary By: eMotoX
Subaru Australia has launched pre-orders for its new all-electric Uncharted SUV, priced from $59,990 before on-road costs. Positioned as a smaller and more affordable addition to Subaru’s expanding electric vehicle lineup, the Uncharted features a single all-wheel-drive variant powered by a dual-motor setup delivering 252kW. The SUV promises brisk performance with a 0-100km/h time of around five seconds and offers a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 522km, supported by a 74.7kWh CATL lithium-ion battery and 150kW DC fast charging capability.
The Uncharted is designed with Subaru’s hallmark all-wheel-drive system, including Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and advanced off-road technologies such as dual-mode X-Mode, Grip Control, and Downhill Assist Control. Its 211mm ground clearance and Multi-Terrain Monitor suggest a light-adventure focus, distinguishing it from lower-profile electric crossovers. Inside, the vehicle shares many features with the Solterra and Trailseeker, including a 14-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, heated seats, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system, alongside comprehensive safety technologies like Subaru Safety Sense and blind spot monitoring.
Subaru has simultaneously reduced prices across its Solterra and Trailseeker electric SUV ranges by between $2,000 and $4,000, aiming to enhance competitiveness in Australia’s increasingly crowded EV market. The Solterra AWD now starts at $61,990, while the Trailseeker AWD has been cut to $63,990, making the new Uncharted the most affordable electric Subaru in the country. These pricing adjustments reflect Subaru’s strategy to sharpen its value proposition amid growing competition from rivals such as Tesla, Hyundai, and BYD.
Scott Lawrence, general manager of Subaru Australia, emphasised the Uncharted’s dynamic driving experience, describing it as “super energised” and nimble, with a character that encourages driver engagement. The launch of the Uncharted and the price revisions signal Subaru’s commitment to expanding its electric portfolio and appealing to a broader range of customers seeking versatile, performance-oriented electric SUVs. Pre-orders for the Uncharted are now open through authorised dealers and Subaru’s Australian website, with deliveries expected mid-year.
