Renault reveals Australian pricing for electric Master van, with 400 km range
Summary By: eMotoX
Renault is set to launch the all-new Master van in Australia this year, introducing both diesel and fully electric variants. The electric Master E-Tech, arriving in the second half of 2024, features a significant upgrade with an 87 kWh battery offering a driving range of up to 409 kilometres on a single charge, positioning it among the longest-range electric large vans available. The new Master line-up represents the first comprehensive redesign in over ten years, with a focus on aerodynamic efficiency and safety, evidenced by its ‘Platinum’ rating from European NCAP.
The electric Master E-Tech is powered by a 105 kW motor delivering 300 Nm of torque and is available in front-wheel-drive configuration. It supports fast charging at speeds up to 130 kW, compatible with most Australian fast chargers. The van offers practical features such as a large sliding side door capable of accommodating a forklift pallet and rear barn doors that open 270 degrees for easy loading. Customers can choose between mid-wheelbase and long-wheelbase models, with standard or high-roof options to suit various commercial needs.
Payload capacity for the electric version ranges from 1084kg to 1164kg, with a gross vehicle mass of 3500kg, which is lower than the diesel models due to the weight of the battery pack. Dimensions vary between the mid and long-wheelbase options, with lengths of 5685mm and 6315mm respectively. Pricing starts at $77,990 plus on-road costs for the mid-wheelbase standard roof model and $79,990 plus on-road costs for the long-wheelbase standard roof version. Additional trade and business packs are offered as optional extras to enhance functionality.
Renault Australia’s general manager, Glen Sealey, highlighted the new Master as a “game-changer” in the large van segment, emphasising its enhanced safety, capability, and efficiency. He noted the vehicle’s strong track record in Europe, where it has won multiple awards, signalling Renault’s confidence in its appeal to Australian commercial customers. The introduction of the electric Master aligns with the growing shift towards zero-emission commercial vehicles in Australia’s competitive van market.
