OBE Power to deploy thousands of ChargePoint EV chargers at multifamily residences

OBE Power has announced plans to install around 2,500 ChargePoint electric vehicle (EV) charging ports at multifamily residential properties beginning in 2026. The partnership designates ChargePoint as the exclusive supplier of EV chargers, software, and related services for OBE Power’s projects. Both companies have synchronised their development pipelines to accelerate the rollout of EV charging infrastructure in the multifamily housing sector, an area that has traditionally faced challenges in adopting scalable charging solutions. OBE Power’s approach centres on an owned-and-operated infrastructure model that aims to alleviate financial and operational burdens for landlords and property managers. This model includes covering energy cost reimbursements, ongoing maintenance, insurance, and repairs at no expense to the property owners. By taking on these responsibilities, OBE Power seeks to simplify the process of installing and managing EV chargers in apartment complexes and similar residential settings, which often struggle with the complexities of EV infrastructure deployment. Executives from both companies highlighted the significance of expanding their collaboration beyond hotels and hospitality into multifamily housing. Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, emphasised the importance of providing residents with convenient access to EV charging where they live, addressing a long-standing gap in the market. Alejandro Burgana, co-founder and Managing Director of OBE Power, noted that their decade-long partnership has built a strong foundation of reliability and performance, which they now aim to leverage to meet the specific needs of multifamily communities. The initiative reflects growing recognition of the need for accessible EV charging in residential environments as electric vehicle adoption continues to rise. By combining ChargePoint’s advanced technology with OBE Power’s operational model, the collaboration promises to deliver tailored charging solutions that could significantly boost EV infrastructure availability in urban and suburban housing developments.
