NIO: 3 Auto Brands, 11 Models at Auto China

Summary By: eMotoX
NIO made a significant impression at Auto China 2026 by showcasing its three distinct brands—NIO, ONVO, and firefly—featuring a total of 11 models alongside 12 full-stack technologies. The event marked the first occasion where all three brands were presented together, highlighting NIO’s multi-brand strategy and over a decade of innovation in electric vehicle technology. Founder and CEO William Li emphasised the company’s ongoing evolution, supported by an expanding charging and battery swap network and a suite of advanced technologies. The highlight of NIO’s display was the debut of the ES9, the brand’s flagship executive SUV, which embodies more than 40 industry-first technologies and nearly 40 class-leading features. Positioned as a pioneer in the smart electric flagship SUV segment, the ES9 is set to begin deliveries in late May, preceded by a 10,000 km challenge to demonstrate its capabilities. Visitors to the show had the opportunity to experience the ES9’s design and advanced features firsthand, including NIO’s SkyRide Full Active Suspension system through interactive exhibits. NIO also unveiled the All-New ES8 Mirrorblack Edition, an executive SUV variant boasting exclusive design enhancements such as Arctic Black exterior finishes, black chrome trims, and a new Yardang Orange interior theme. The ES8 has already achieved remarkable commercial success, surpassing 100,000 units sold in just over seven months and maintaining a leading position in its price and segment categories. Olympic champion Wu Minxia was introduced as the first user of this special edition, underscoring the model’s premium status. The 2026 line-up also included refreshed versions of the ET5, ET5 Touring, ES6, and EC6, which received upgrades in design, comfort, and smart driving capabilities. These models continue to reinforce NIO’s leadership in China’s premium electric vehicle market, with the Clean Park Edition offering further exclusive features. ONVO introduced its large executive SUVs, notably the L80, which was announced to launch with pre-orders opening shortly after the show, and the recently launched L90, which integrates cutting-edge smart driving technologies including NIO’s proprietary NX9031 chip and AI-native vehicle operating system. Meanwhile, firefly presented a refreshed model with hardware and software upgrades, including a new exterior colour and custom alloy wheels, alongside special editions such as the “glow rod” and community-inspired “springtime getaway.” These offerings demonstrate NIO’s commitment to broadening its appeal and catering to diverse customer preferences through design innovation and technological enhancement. Overall, NIO’s comprehensive Auto China presence signals its ambition to remain at the forefront of electric mobility across multiple market segments.
