Newport Beach boaters can charge their electric boats with a new Aqua superPower marine fast charger

Aqua superPower has launched a new marine DC fast charger at Newport Harbor in Newport Beach, California, marking a significant step forward for electric boating infrastructure on the West Coast. The charger, located at Marina Park, delivers up to 24 kW of power through a CCS connector and is engineered to withstand the demanding marine environment. This installation supports a broad spectrum of electric vessels, from leisure boats to commercial craft, reflecting the growing adoption of electric propulsion in the maritime sector. The charging unit is integrated with Aqua superPower’s Neptune cloud platform, which manages installation, maintenance, and remote monitoring. Boaters can easily locate the charger, check its availability in real time, and handle payments via the Aqua superPower app, enhancing convenience and accessibility. This latest addition expands Aqua superPower’s network, which now boasts over 60 chargers across Europe and North America, with plans to extend further into busy coastal hubs like San Diego and Santa Barbara. The move aligns with broader efforts to promote sustainable marine transportation in the region. Last year, the Newport Beach Harbor Department incorporated an electric Vita work boat into its fleet, partially funded by California’s Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) programme, signalling institutional support for electrification. Scott Canning, US Vice President of Business Development at Aqua superPower, emphasised the company’s commitment to enabling a sustainable future for marine electrification through technology that supports all major electric boat manufacturers. Local stakeholders have welcomed the initiative as a boost for green boating in Newport Beach. Marina Park Harbor Master Paul Blank highlighted the partnership with Aqua superPower as a way to enhance marina facilities and encourage other harbours to adopt electric vessels. The installation not only facilitates the transition to cleaner marine transport but also positions Newport Beach as a leading destination for environmentally conscious boating.
