Volkswagen has unveiled the all-new ID. Polo, marking the electric evolution of one of its most successful models. Building on the Polo’s legacy of over 20 million sales, the ID. Polo is designed to bring electric mobility to a broader audience with a starting price of €24,995 in Germany. The new model features a modern, minimalist design language that combines spaciousness, advanced technology, and practicality, positioning it as more than just a city car. The ID. Polo offers three powertrain options ranging from 85 kW to 155 kW, paired with two battery sizes that deliver a maximum WLTP range of up to 454 km. The entry-level versions use a 37 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, enabling fast charging from 10 to 80 per cent in around 23 minutes, while the top-spec model employs a 52 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery with similar charging times and extended range. Volkswagen’s new front-wheel-drive platform, MEB+, allows the ID. Polo to maximise interior space, offering a larger luggage capacity than previous models and many vehicles in the compact segment. Inside, the ID. Polo embraces Volkswagen’s new Pure Positive design philosophy, characterised by clean lines, high-quality materials, and ergonomic layouts. The cabin features a 10-inch digital cockpit and a large 13-inch infotainment touchscreen, complemented by physical controls for intuitive operation. Additional touches such as decorative stitching and subtle branding elevate the interior’s premium feel, while nostalgic design elements pay homage to Volkswagen’s heritage. Technological advancements include the availability of Connected Travel Assist, which introduces semi-autonomous driving features such as automatic traffic light recognition—a first in this vehicle class. One-pedal driving is standard, enhancing efficiency and ease of use, and the car also supports vehicle-to-load functionality, allowing it to power external devices like e-bikes. These innovations underscore Volkswagen’s commitment to integrating higher-segment technologies into an accessible electric vehicle. With pre-sales already underway in Germany, the ID.
