Summary By: eMotoX
Mazda has announced the launch of its third electric vehicle in Australia, the CX-6e SUV, with pricing starting at $53,990 for the entry-level GT variant before on-road costs. The top-tier Azami model is priced at $56,990, and as part of a special introductory offer, the first 1,000 customers to order the GT variant will receive a complimentary upgrade to the Azami trim, a package valued at $3,000. Deliveries of the CX-6e are expected to begin in September, continuing Mazda’s expansion of its electric vehicle lineup in the Australian market.
The CX-6e is powered by a rear-mounted 190 kW electric motor paired with a 78 kWh Lithium-Iron-Phosphate battery, offering an estimated WLTP range of up to 484 kilometres on a single charge. Charging from 30 to 80 per cent capacity is projected to take approximately 15 minutes, highlighting the model’s focus on practicality and convenience. Inside, the SUV features a prominent 26.45-inch central touchscreen that extends towards the passenger side, complemented by 256-colour ambient lighting and high-quality materials, emphasising Mazda’s commitment to a premium cabin experience.
Safety and technology are key highlights of the CX-6e, which comes equipped with advanced driver assistance systems such as Smart Brake Support with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Lane-Keep Assist. The vehicle also includes a 50-inch active driving display, a 360-degree view monitor with See-Through View, and tri-zone climate control with an air purification system. Exterior colour options range from vibrant metallic finishes to more understated tones, including a distinctive nightfall violet mica.
The CX-6e’s design follows Mazda’s “Future + Soul + Modern” Kodo philosophy, unveiled globally at the Brussels Motor Show earlier this year. Manufactured in partnership with Chongqing Changan Automobile Company, the SUV represents a blend of Japanese design and Chinese manufacturing expertise. Mazda Australia’s Managing Director, Vinesh Bhindi, noted the strong demand for the brand’s previous EV launch, the Mazda 6e, which sold out all 300 units within two weeks, signalling positive market reception for the CX-6e’s pre-order campaign and future sales prospects.
