Loop Global installs 64 EV charging ports at a multifamily development in Boston

Loop Global has completed a significant installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure at a new multifamily residential development in Hyde Park, Massachusetts. The company supplied 64 Flex 32 A Level 2 chargers across two buildings, covering a quarter of the available parking spaces. This installation represents the largest multifamily EV charging project in Boston to date and includes Loop’s networked platform, which offers residents real-time monitoring and energy management capabilities. The development, led by Commonwealth Development Partners, was strategically chosen for its proximity to downtown Boston and surrounding suburban areas. The charging infrastructure was integrated from the earliest stages of planning, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to sustainable urban living. Electrical contractor DMH Electric collaborated with utility provider Eversource to secure incentives that covered approximately 70% of the project’s costs, highlighting the importance of partnerships between developers, utilities, and technology firms in advancing EV adoption. Esther M. Santos, Vice President and Head of Sales at Loop Global, emphasised the collaborative nature of the project, noting how shared vision among stakeholders enabled the successful delivery of this large-scale installation. Matthew Faris, co-founder and Managing Partner at Commonwealth Development Partners, underlined the necessity of incorporating EV charging from the outset, particularly for a transit-oriented development with 247 units. He highlighted how the infrastructure adds long-term value for residents by supporting their evolving transportation needs. This project sets a precedent for future multifamily developments in the Boston area and beyond, demonstrating how early integration of EV charging can enhance residential appeal and sustainability. It also illustrates the growing importance of utility incentives and technological innovation in making large-scale EV infrastructure financially viable. As electric vehicles become increasingly prevalent, such initiatives will be critical in supporting urban mobility transitions and meeting environmental goals.
