The initiative aims to provide accessible charging infrastructure across all 18 of Philadelphia’s planning districts, with a particular emphasis on neighbourhoods currently underserved by public chargers. The chargers are designed to draw power from nearby buildings and utility poles, a strategy that helps to minimise costly grid upgrades and lengthy utility connection delays. Philadelphia faces a significant challenge in EV adoption due to the fact that over 60 percent of its households lack off-street parking, making curbside charging essential for many residents.
