Hyundai Unveils 2027 IONIQ 9 AWD Performance Calligraphy Black Ink Model

Hyundai has introduced the 2027 IONIQ 9 AWD Performance Calligraphy Black Ink, a premium iteration of its flagship three-row electric SUV. Unveiled at a media event near the Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Savannah, Georgia, this new model emphasises luxury, exclusivity, and advanced performance. The Calligraphy Black Ink edition is distinguished by its unique gloss black and black chrome exterior accents, exclusive 21-inch black alloy wheels, and an all-black interior colour scheme. Production will take place at Hyundai’s Bryan County facility, with the vehicle expected to reach dealerships this summer. The Calligraphy Black Ink trim represents Hyundai’s highest expression of design and technology within the IONIQ 9 range. The name “Calligraphy” reflects the brand’s philosophy of meticulous craftsmanship, likening the vehicle’s design to the artful precision of traditional calligraphy. The “Black Ink” designation further symbolises strength and clarity, reinforcing the model’s sophisticated and purposeful aesthetic. Exterior enhancements include gloss black roof rails, black window mouldings, and a black front Hyundai emblem, all contributing to a sleek, stealthy appearance that elevates the SUV’s commanding presence. Inside, the IONIQ 9 Calligraphy Black Ink offers a refined cabin environment featuring black upholstery with a distinctive seating pattern, eco-sustainable materials such as a corn-derived sueded headliner, and unique aluminium trim with handcrafted motifs. The six-passenger layout includes first- and second-row Relaxation Seats with power recline and ventilation, as well as heated third-row seating. Technological features are comprehensive, with a 10-inch head-up display, a 14-speaker Bose premium audio system, a digital rearview mirror, and advanced driver aids such as Remote Smart Parking Assist 2. Performance-wise, this edition boasts Hyundai’s most powerful IONIQ 9 configuration, delivering 422 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque through a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system. It is equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery and an 800-volt architecture that supports ultra-fast DC charging at up to 350 kW, enabling a rapid recharge from 10% to 80% in approximately 24 minutes under optimal conditions. Additionally, the vehicle features a native NACS port for compatibility with the expanding North American charging network, enhancing convenience for electric vehicle owners.
