Hyundai launches and prices its Ioniq 6 N – the performance EV with full wings

Hyundai has officially launched the Ioniq 6 N, its latest high-performance electric vehicle distinguished by the inclusion of “full wings” to enhance stability both on and off the track. Priced at $115,000 before on-road costs, the Ioniq 6 N is available in a single variant with some options affecting the final price, including a sunroof delete feature aimed at track enthusiasts who may prefer helmet use. This model marks a significant step for Hyundai, being the first car from the brand, electric or petrol, to incorporate such aerodynamic features, signalling a strong commitment to performance EVs. The Ioniq 6 N builds on the success of the standard Ioniq 6 sedan, which has already carved out a distinctive niche with its sleek design inspired by classic Italian sports cars. Hyundai has upgraded the vehicle considerably, adding wide fenders, a swan-neck rear wing, and advanced aerodynamic enhancements that achieve a drag coefficient of 0.274. Structural reinforcements and improved body rigidity complement these changes, alongside an advanced braking system and intelligent controls that balance track capability with everyday usability and maximise energy recovery. Under the bonnet, the Ioniq 6 N boasts an impressive 478kW of power and 770Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds using its N Launch Control feature. The 84 kWh battery offers a WLTP-rated range of 487 km, making it a practical choice for both spirited driving and daily use. Inside, the cabin is tailored to the performance ethos with lightweight sports seats, an exclusive N Pasubio steering wheel with customisable buttons, metal pedals, and a knee support pad, all designed to enhance driver engagement and comfort. Hyundai’s N series plays a crucial role in the company’s strategy to transition customers from internal combustion engines to electric drivetrains, with the Ioniq 5 N already proving popular in markets such as Australia.
