Hyundai EVs Get Fun New FIFA World Cup 2026 Themes in Infotainment
Summary By: eMotoX
Hyundai is rolling out a new FIFA World Cup 2026™ themed update for the infotainment systems in several of its vehicles, including electric and fuel-cell models. The update introduces a dynamic display theme inspired by the upcoming tournament, featuring unique animations and graphics that transform the digital cluster and infotainment screens. Notably, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 and the yet-to-be-released IONIQ 9 battery-electric vehicles, along with the NEXO fuel-cell model, will receive the new theme, while the IONIQ 6 is excluded from this update.
The World Cup-themed display is available across multiple regions, including Korea, the United States, Canada, and Europe. Hyundai owners can download the theme directly via the Bluelink Store through the myHyundai app, eliminating the need for dealership visits. This initiative forms part of Hyundai’s broader “Next Starts Now” campaign, which seeks to connect the excitement of the FIFA World Cup with the company’s vision of innovation and progress in mobility.
A distinctive feature of the new theme is the inclusion of Boston Dynamics’ robots, Atlas and Spot, which appear in the vehicle’s interface during startup and on select navigation screens. Hyundai plans to extend the presence of these robots beyond the digital realm by deploying them at World Cup venues to assist with match operations, fan engagement, and safety measures throughout the tournament. This integration highlights Hyundai’s commitment to showcasing cutting-edge technology both on and off the road.
Sungwon Jee, Hyundai’s Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer, emphasised the company’s long-standing partnership with FIFA and the desire to enhance the fan experience through mobility. He described the theme as a way to bring to life the future of football alongside Hyundai’s vision for future mobility, inspiring customers and fans alike. The 2026 World Cup will take place across Mexico, the United States, and Canada from June to July, marking a significant global event for both sport and automotive innovation.
