H55 has supplied certifiable battery modules to BRM Aero for integration into the Bristell B23 Energic, a fully electric trainer aircraft designed for the pilot training sector. These battery modules conform to aviation certification standards, meaning they are built to the proposed type design and intended for official integration testing rather than prototype evaluation. This milestone advances the B23 Energic programme into the mechanical integration phase and aircraft-level validation of its electric propulsion system, with first customer deliveries anticipated by late 2027. The Bristell B23 Energic is positioned as an electric alternative to traditional piston-engine trainers, targeting flight schools in the US and Europe. BRM Aero highlights the aircraft’s benefits including zero-emission operations, reduced noise levels, lower energy consumption, and simplified maintenance, which are particularly advantageous for operators managing intensive training schedules. Production capacity for the initial two years has already been secured, reflecting strong market interest and confirmed orders from international customers. H55, with its roots in the Solar Impulse programme, brings significant expertise in electric aviation, having logged over 2,000 hours of fully electric flight without any battery-related incidents. The company specialises in converting commercial lithium cells into certified aviation-grade energy storage systems, with certification evidence transferable across different aircraft programmes to mitigate risks for new customers.
