Greenlane to expand its electric truck charging network to a strategic Texas freight corridor

Greenlane, a US-based company specialising in public charging infrastructure for medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks, is set to expand its network beyond California with new charging hubs along the I-45 corridor between Dallas and Houston, Texas. This strategic move targets one of the busiest freight corridors in the country, connecting key commercial routes from the West Coast, Midwest, and the US-Mexico border. The expansion reflects Greenlane’s demand-driven approach to site development, aiming to support the evolving logistics needs of electric freight transport across major American trade arteries. The new Texas sites will be equipped with 6 to 8 pull-through lanes, ample tractor parking, and chargers compatible with both current-generation CCS connectors and next-generation megawatt charging system (MCS) connectors. The inclusion of MCS technology is particularly significant as it allows electric trucks to recharge within standard driver rest periods, enhancing operational efficiency. Additionally, the facilities will accommodate drop-and-hook relay operations and overnight parking, providing fleets with greater flexibility for continuous freight movement along the corridor. Greenlane’s expansion builds on the success of its flagship Greenlane Center in Colton, California, which opened in April 2025. The company also plans to launch two more sites later this year, one in Blythe, California, along the I-10 corridor, and another near the Port of Long Beach, a critical hub for drayage operations. These developments underline Greenlane’s commitment to establishing a comprehensive charging network that supports the growing electrification of commercial trucking across key freight routes in the United States. Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane, emphasised the strategic importance of the Texas triangle corridor, describing it as a vital freight artery that justifies the introduction of high-power charging infrastructure. He highlighted that the expansion is a logical extension of Greenlane’s mission to align its network with the actual patterns of freight movement across the country. The company’s integrated Greenlane Edge platform further enhances the user experience by allowing fleet managers and drivers to reserve chargers, monitor charging sessions, and handle billing through a single, streamlined system. The expansion into Texas marks a significant step in supporting the transition to electric trucking on a national scale, addressing key logistical challenges and enabling more efficient, sustainable freight operations.
