EV Realty opens Inland Empire truck charging hub with 76 ports and 9 MW of power capacity

Summary By: eMotoX
EV Realty has inaugurated a major truck charging hub in San Bernardino, featuring 76 high-power charging ports and a total capacity of 9 MW. This facility is designed to accommodate over 200 medium- and heavy-duty electric trucks daily, supporting all makes and models with both CCS and MCS charging standards. Strategically positioned near the San Bernardino Intermodal Facility and close to Interstates 10 and 215, the hub lies along a critical freight corridor connecting the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to inland distribution networks. The hub’s infrastructure is purpose-built for logistics operations, with technology and design choices shaped by input from fleet customers. Charging equipment from Kempower enables rapid charging at up to 1.2 MW for MCS ports and 500 kW for CCS ports, while Synop’s software provides comprehensive fleet management tools, including power management, reservations, and detailed reporting on cost, range, and efficiency. The site also offers 24/7 on-site staff, security, parking, and amenities to support continuous operations. Several prominent customers have already committed to using the facility, including national carrier J.B. Hunt Transport, beverage distributor Gate City Beverage, and fully electric carrier Nevoya. Patrick Sullivan, CEO of EV Realty, emphasised the importance of the Inland Empire as a logistics hub and highlighted the need for reliable, affordable high-power charging to enable fleets to transition from pilot projects to full electrification. He described the facility as a critical step towards making electric trucking a viable business choice. John Verdon, Chief Commercial Officer at Nevoya, praised EV Realty’s approach, noting that the hub’s design and business model provide valuable operational flexibility. He highlighted the benefits of megawatt charging and vehicle domicile options, which align well with the needs of electric carriers seeking efficient and cost-effective charging solutions. The launch of this hub marks a significant development in supporting the electrification of freight transport in one of the busiest logistics regions in the United States.
