Electric power sliding doors to feature in BYD’s smallest EV, with tiny 20 kWh battery

Chinese automaker BYD is set to enter Japan’s competitive Kei car segment with the introduction of its compact electric hatchback, the BYD Racco. Unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Racco is a diminutive city car measuring just under 3.4 metres in length and is designed specifically for the Japanese market. It features a notably small 20 kWh battery pack, with an optional larger 30 kWh pack, offering ranges of approximately 200 km and 300 km respectively, which should suffice for typical urban driving needs. One of the standout features of the BYD Racco is its electric sliding rear doors, a design element more commonly found in premium multi-purpose vehicles.
