CleanTechnica’s First Sustainability Expo & Electric Home Show

CleanTechnica hosted its inaugural Electric Home Show at the Blaisdell Expo Hall in Honolulu, Hawaii, this April, marking a significant step in promoting sustainable living and clean energy technologies. The event brought together approximately 75 vendors representing a wide range of eco-friendly products and services, including electric vehicle and hybrid repair shops, e-bike suppliers, farm-to-table restaurants, solar energy providers, and energy-efficient home solutions. Attendees had the opportunity to explore 12 electric vehicles on display and test drive seven more, alongside interactive demonstrations such as a battery-powered bounce house and portable induction cooking setups. The expo attracted around 1,200 visitors and featured ten presentations, highlighted by a keynote speech from renowned environmentalist Bill McKibben. The event served as a vibrant platform for networking and knowledge exchange, fostering connections that could accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies in Hawaii and beyond. By enabling people to engage directly with sustainable innovations, the show aimed to counter misinformation surrounding clean energy and illustrate its practical benefits in everyday life. Organisers emphasised the importance of hands-on experiences in shifting public perception and policy away from costly and polluting fossil fuels towards a more affordable, resilient, and environmentally responsible future. The Electric Home Show demonstrated a broad spectrum of solutions that could contribute to this transition, reflecting the growing momentum of the clean energy movement. As the first of its kind, the event sets a precedent for future gatherings that promote sustainability through education, innovation, and community involvement.
