ChargePoint and Powers Parts offer service and support for electric bus operators

ChargePoint and Powers Parts have formed a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing service and support for electric bus operators. This collaboration integrates ChargePoint’s advanced hardware, software, and telematics platform with Powers Parts’ established distribution network and extensive connections within the transit sector. As a result, transit agencies running E2 and ZX5 Phoenix electric buses can now acquire ChargePoint’s products and services more efficiently through Powers Parts, simplifying the procurement and deployment process. The partnership addresses a significant challenge faced by many transit agencies: inconsistent service and support for electric bus charging infrastructure. ChargePoint’s CEO, Rick Wilmer, highlighted that the alliance broadens their presence within the transit ecosystem by leveraging Powers Parts’ established relationships alongside their own technological solutions. Powers Parts initially focused on resolving supply chain and replacement part issues for electric transit fleets, but as their engagement with agencies deepened, they recognised the need for a more comprehensive support system. A spokesperson from Powers Parts emphasised that fleet uptime relies on more than just parts availability, pointing to the importance of integrated support covering charging infrastructure, telematics, diagnostics, and long-term fleet management. The collaboration with ChargePoint is seen as a natural progression to provide transit operators with a holistic operational support framework, facilitating smoother transitions to electrification. This partnership could set a new standard for how electric bus fleets are supported, potentially improving reliability and efficiency across the sector.
