ChargeLab and ChargerHelp form strategic partnership to maximize EV charger uptime
Summary By: eMotoX
ChargerHelp and ChargeLab have announced a strategic reseller partnership aimed at significantly improving the reliability of public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. ChargerHelp specialises in providing a Reliability as a Service model, offering customers unlimited operations and maintenance support with guaranteed uptime for a fixed monthly fee. ChargeLab, on the other hand, delivers comprehensive EV charging station management software, and together the two companies seek to address the persistent issue of charger downtime by integrating their services into a unified operational framework.
The partnership responds to findings from a 2025 J.D. Power study revealing that 14% of EV charging attempts fail, with many issues stemming not from hardware faults but from poor communication between utilities, management platforms, and software systems. This fragmented ecosystem often leads to “silent failures,” where chargers appear operational on digital maps but are physically unusable. By combining ChargeLab’s real-time digital monitoring and initial diagnostics with ChargerHelp’s field service maintenance and root-cause analysis platform, the companies aim to create a continuous feedback loop that reduces the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and pushes industry uptime standards towards a reliable 99%.
Kameale Terry, CEO of ChargerHelp, emphasised the complexity of achieving near-perfect reliability, noting that while reaching 90% uptime was challenging, moving from 97% to 99% requires close coordination across people, systems, and data. Zak Lefevre, ChargeLab’s co-founder and CEO, highlighted the importance of distinguishing issues that can be resolved remotely through software from those requiring on-site intervention. The partnership’s integrated approach offers customers a single contract and onboarding process, streamlining operations and enabling faster, smarter resolution of charging issues.
This collaboration marks a significant step towards addressing one of the EV sector’s most pressing challenges: ensuring dependable access to charging infrastructure. By fostering interoperability and combining software management with hands-on maintenance, ChargeLab and ChargerHelp are setting a new benchmark for uptime and reliability. The partnership could serve as a model for other players in the industry seeking to enhance customer experience and accelerate the transition to electric mobility.
