BYD Updates Philippine Lineup with Sealion 7

BYD has introduced its latest electric SUV, the Sealion 7, to the Philippine market, marking a significant step in the country’s shift towards sustainable mobility. Distributed by ACMobility, part of Ayala Corporation, the Sealion 7 blends the performance of a sports sedan with the practicality of a family crossover. The launch event in Makati City showcased the vehicle’s zero-emission credentials alongside its dynamic driving capabilities, positioning it as a flagship model for BYD’s expanding electric lineup. The Sealion 7 is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering 523 horsepower and 690 Newton-meters of torque, enabling it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in under five seconds. Its 82.6 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery offers a theoretical range exceeding 500 kilometres, making it suitable for long-distance travel across Luzon. The vehicle also features multiple driving modes to adjust performance based on road conditions, enhancing both efficiency and driving enjoyment. Inside, the Sealion 7 boasts a spacious and premium cabin, equipped with climate-controlled front seats, an expansive glass roof, and advanced cargo solutions including an automated rear hatch and a front trunk. The digital interface centres on a large multimedia display that can rotate between portrait and landscape orientations, supporting smartphone integration and a heads-up display for essential driving information. Additionally, the SUV offers bidirectional charging, allowing it to power external devices, which is particularly useful for outdoor activities or emergency power needs. Safety is a key focus, with an extensive suite of driver-assistance features such as smart highway cruising, automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assistance, and a fatigue detection system that monitors the driver’s facial cues. The Sealion 7 is priced just under 2.6 million Philippine pesos, inclusive of comprehensive warranty coverage and a maintenance schedule requiring servicing only once a year. Special financing options and promotional incentives are available for early buyers during the ongoing multi-day mall showcase, which also highlights BYD’s broader range of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles tailored to diverse consumer needs.
