Bosch wins Mercedes-Benz order for electric motors across multiple performance classes, extending into the 2030s
Summary By: eMotoX
Bosch has secured a significant contract to supply electric motors to Mercedes-Benz, covering a range of performance classes for the premium automaker’s next generation of electric drivetrains. The agreement extends well into the 2030s, underscoring a long-term partnership focused on advancing electric mobility. Although financial details and production volumes remain confidential, the deal highlights Bosch’s growing influence in the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.
The motors supplied by Bosch boast an efficiency of up to 98%, achieved through innovative winding technology and rotor oil cooling systems that effectively manage heat during high-power operation. A key feature of Bosch’s offering is its scalable platform architecture, which allows for adjustments in motor axial length to meet varying power demands and different axle configurations without requiring a complete redesign. This flexibility results in a compact, lightweight design that reduces installation space and overall system costs, making it well suited for Mercedes-Benz’s diverse electric vehicle lineup.
This contract forms part of a broader wave of successes for Bosch in the electromobility sector. In 2025 alone, the company secured over 70 customer projects globally and currently provides components to more than 50 automakers worldwide. Bosch’s production capacity is expanding rapidly, with plans to manufacture over seven million EV components in 2026, equating to roughly seven electric motors per minute. The company is also pushing integrated solutions, such as its X-in-1 drive systems that combine motor, power electronics, transmission, and energy management into a single unit, streamlining EV powertrain assembly.
Beyond its collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, Bosch is actively expanding its footprint in key markets. It has established a joint venture with Tata Autocomp Systems in India to develop and produce e-axles tailored for the local market, while also supplying more than 30 customers in China. Markus Heyn, Chairman of Bosch Mobility, emphasised the company’s commitment to delivering electric driving solutions worldwide, reflecting Bosch’s strategic focus on supporting the global transition to electrified transport.
