Audi A2 e-tron Clocks Up Test Kilometers

Audi is preparing to launch the A2 e-tron, an all-electric compact model set to debut in autumn 2026. This new addition will expand Audi’s electric vehicle portfolio, targeting the entry-level segment while maintaining the brand’s premium appeal. The A2 e-tron is being produced at Audi’s Ingolstadt facility, signalling the company’s ongoing commitment to electrification and local manufacturing. Currently, the prototype is undergoing rigorous testing across diverse environments to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Winter trials in northern Sweden are assessing the vehicle’s handling, thermal management, and battery efficiency in extreme cold and icy conditions. Meanwhile, aerodynamic refinement is taking place at Audi’s wind tunnel in Ingolstadt, where engineers are fine-tuning airflow, noise levels, and thermal stability at speeds of up to 300 km/h. In addition to controlled environments, the A2 e-tron is being tested on public roads in Bavaria’s Altmühl Valley. This phase focuses on real-world driving dynamics, including suspension tuning and the integration of driver assistance systems, to guarantee everyday usability and comfort. Audi’s comprehensive validation process highlights the brand’s dedication to delivering a refined electric driving experience. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner emphasised the significance of the A2 e-tron as a major step towards a fully electric future for the company.
