92 New EV Chargers At 14 Charging Stations Announced
Summary By: eMotoX
Kempower and Blink Charging have announced a joint initiative to install 92 new electric vehicle (EV) charging ports across 14 stations, with two locations already operational and the remainder set to open in 2026. The existing sites are situated at Vasa Fitness in Colorado and Idaho Falls in Idaho, while the upcoming stations will primarily be located near convenience stores along the US East Coast. These new installations will feature Kempower’s Power Units and Satellite fast chargers, designed to provide reliable and scalable fast-charging solutions for EV drivers.
The collaboration aims to enhance the accessibility of high-performance EV charging infrastructure, integrating it into everyday locations where drivers can conveniently charge their vehicles while attending to other activities. Kempower’s Vice President of Markets and Products, Jed Routh, emphasised the importance of seamless integration of fast charging into daily routines, highlighting the partnership with Blink as a step towards making sustainable transportation more attainable for the average motorist. This expansion aligns with broader efforts to grow public EV charging networks, supported by federal funding initiatives that continue despite some political opposition to electric vehicles.
The ongoing growth of public charging infrastructure reflects a shift in how drivers refuel, with EV owners benefiting from the ability to charge their cars during other errands or leisure activities, such as shopping, exercising, or working. This convenience contrasts with traditional refuelling at petrol stations, which exposes drivers to harmful fumes and occasionally unsafe environments. While most EV charging still occurs at home for those with private chargers, the expansion of public fast chargers is critical for drivers without such access and for longer journeys.
The announcement also underscores a broader trend of retail and service locations increasingly incorporating EV chargers to attract and support customers. Major chains like Walmart, Kroger, and Wawa have already installed public chargers, signalling a growing recognition of EV infrastructure as a valuable amenity. As the EV market continues to expand, partnerships like that of Kempower and Blink will play a crucial role in addressing range anxiety and encouraging wider adoption of electric vehicles across the United States.
