Race results: AMA Supercross RD15 – Philadelphia

Ken Roczen delivered a masterful performance in the mud at the AMA Supercross round 15 in Philadelphia, battling fiercely with Hunter Lawrence and Cooper Webb to secure victory. Roczen quickly overtook Webb and Lawrence in the opening laps, but Lawrence remained close until a crash dropped him to third place. Despite Webb closing the gap in the final stages, Roczen maintained his composure and pace to cross the finish line first, extending his championship lead to four points with just two rounds remaining. The race conditions were challenging, with heavy rain creating slippery, muddy terrain that tested the riders’ skill and endurance. Roczen’s ability to navigate through back markers and maintain focus under pressure was crucial to his success. Reflecting on the win, Roczen acknowledged the ongoing pressure of the championship battle and emphasised the importance of this victory in his campaign, noting that his hard work was finally paying off. In the 250 East class, rising star Cole Davies claimed his first AMA Supercross title in similarly difficult conditions. Davies managed to stay ahead despite a red flag interruption with seven minutes remaining, showcasing remarkable calm and control. His triumph marks a historic moment as he becomes only the second New Zealander to win an AMA Supercross title, following in the footsteps of his coach, Ben Townley. Seth Hammaker, who started strong with the holeshot, suffered a setback after a crash ended his title hopes at his home round. Although he recovered to finish third after the restart, he was unable to overtake Davies or the runner-up, which allowed Davies to clinch the championship with two rounds still to run. Davies expressed deep gratitude for his family’s sacrifices and described the achievement as a dream come true, signalling the arrival of a promising new talent in the sport.
