Summary By: eMotoX
The Estonian Motocross Championship MX Masters series kicks off this weekend with the opening round at the Rosma motocross track in Põlva. This year’s championship features five rounds, including two new tracks, with the season finale scheduled for mid-September in Maardu, near Tallinn. The series also visits Tihemetsa, Pärnu, and Lange, offering a varied and challenging calendar designed to elevate the level of competition across Estonia.
The MX Masters boasts a strong and diverse entry list, featuring reigning champions from four countries across MX1, MX2, and 125cc classes. Despite the absence of the Finnish and Latvian MX1 champions at the opening round due to injury, the field remains competitive, particularly in MX2 where several promising Finnish riders are expected to challenge local favourites like Sebastian Leok. Notable newcomers include Latvian MX2 champion Markuss Kokins, who steps up to the MX Open class, adding further intrigue to the series.
Riders have expressed optimism about the new venues and the series’ development. Defending MX Open champion Jörgen-Matthias Talviku highlighted the excitement around the new tracks and the potential for faster racing, while Gert Krestinov, last year’s runner-up, noted the demanding nature of the courses, predicting that endurance and strength will be key factors. The introduction of superfinals at three rounds, featuring the fastest 40 riders from combined MX2 and MX Open classes, promises intense and spectator-friendly racing.
The championship will benefit from enhanced media coverage, with live streams available on multiple platforms including the EMF YouTube channel and the Latvian 24Sport platform, alongside highlight shows on TV6. The series has also attracted new sponsorship, notably from Unibet and Thor, contributing to a prize fund exceeding €27,500. Organisers and riders alike are confident that the MX Masters series is progressing well, offering an exciting season ahead for both competitors and fans of Estonian motocross.
