MXGP Latvia: De Wolf on the box in Kegums while Everts grabs points

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing enjoyed a standout weekend at the MXGP of Latvia, with Kay de Wolf achieving his best premier-class performance to date by finishing second overall in the MXGP category. The Dutch rider secured his second podium of the season, delivering a strong showing on the challenging Zelta Zirgs circuit in Kegums. Meanwhile, Liam Everts continued his steady form in the MX2 class, adding valuable points to his championship campaign despite some setbacks during the races. The Latvian track, known for its demanding mix of deep sand and hard-packed sections, tested riders with variable weather conditions that shifted from rain to warm sunshine over the weekend. Everts, who entered the round fourth in the MX2 standings, faced difficulties after a poor start in the first moto but fought back to finish seventh. In the second moto, a better start allowed him to maintain a consistent pace, resulting in another seventh-place finish and sixth overall for the Grand Prix. De Wolf’s performance in MXGP was marked by determination and tactical riding. After a strong qualifying session, he quickly moved into the leading group in race one and executed a decisive late-race pass to claim second place behind Lucas Coenen. In the second moto, de Wolf capitalised on a rival’s retirement to secure third, rounding off the weekend with a 2-3 scorecard that propelled him to fifth in the MXGP World Championship standings. His progress as a rookie in the premier class continues to impress observers. Both riders reflected on their weekends with a mix of satisfaction and resolve. De Wolf acknowledged some mistakes in the second moto but emphasised the positive outcome of achieving his best result so far and thanked his team for their support. Everts noted that while the results did not fully reflect his pace, securing solid points remains crucial in a long championship season.
