Mixed Weekend for Van Venrooy KTM Racing in Trentino
Summary By: eMotoX
The Van Venrooy KTM Racing Team faced a challenging weekend at the MXGP of Trentino in Arco di Trento, experiencing a mixture of promising performances and setbacks across different classes. In the premier MXGP category, Mattia Guadagnini showed early promise by securing seventh place in the qualifying race, setting up a positive start for race day. Unfortunately, his momentum was disrupted in the opening moto when a crash at the first corner caused his bike to stall, forcing him to restart from the back of the pack. Despite a determined effort to recover to 18th place, Guadagnini struggled again in the second moto, finishing 16th after a poor start and several mistakes.
In the MX2 class, Noel Zanocz delivered a steady performance throughout the weekend. After qualifying 13th, he maintained a solid pace in the first moto, finishing 14th after starting the race in ninth position. Although his start in the second moto was less favourable, dropping him to around 25th place, Zanocz demonstrated resilience by climbing back to 16th by the finish. His consistent riding highlighted potential for improvement in upcoming rounds.
Aron Katona competed in the EMX250 class, where he once again showcased his speed by topping the times in his practice group. However, Katona’s race results were hampered by poor starts in both motos. He managed to recover from 26th to 16th in the first race but struggled more in the second, finishing 27th after beginning last on the opening lap. These challenges prevented him from achieving a stronger overall result despite his evident pace.
Reflecting on the weekend, Guadagnini expressed disappointment with his race day outcomes but remained optimistic about the future, emphasising his commitment to training during the upcoming month-long break. The MXGP calendar now pauses until late May, with the championship set to resume at the MXGP of France in Lacapelle-Marival, where the Van Venrooy KTM team will aim to build on the lessons learned in Trentino.
