Lucas Coenen wins first MXGP moto of Andalusia

Lucas Coenen secured a significant victory in the first MXGP moto of the Andalusia round held in Riola Sardo. Despite starting the race around tenth place, the Belgian rider demonstrated impressive pace and determination, overtaking key competitors to claim the lead on the sixth lap. His triumph marked a notable achievement against a strong field, including top contenders from the Honda team. The race began with a strong performance from the Hondas, with Tom Vialle grabbing the holeshot, followed closely by Oriol Oliver and Jeffrey Herlings. However, Herlings was eventually overtaken by Coenen, who maintained his lead to the finish line. Jeffrey Herlings settled for second place, while Romain Febvre and Kay de Wolf completed the top four, showcasing a competitive and closely fought race. Other notable performances included Ruben Fernandez, who rounded out the top five, while Roan van de Moosdijk and Calvin Vlaanderen finished further down the order in thirteenth and fifteenth respectively. Rick Elzinga faced misfortune, retiring early and being classified 28th.
