Interview: Ricardo Bauer – “I am really happy to see I am on a good level”

Austrian rider Ricardo Bauer marked a significant milestone in his EMX125 championship campaign with a commanding overall victory at the French round, held on one of the season’s most demanding circuits. Despite a challenging start in the opening race, Bauer exhibited remarkable resilience and skill, climbing from seventeenth to second place. His strong performance in the second race, where he quickly moved from fourth to first, secured his second overall win of the season, signalling his growing maturity and competitiveness in the series. The French track posed a formidable test for all competitors, featuring deep ruts, rough terrain, and technical jumps that punished any mistakes. Bauer embraced these tough conditions, praising the track’s rhythm and technical demands, which suited his riding style. He credited his recent recovery from a wrist injury, which had previously restricted his movement, as a key factor in his improved performance and confidence. The five-week break prior to the event allowed him to remove a stabilising wire from his wrist, enabling freer movement and a stronger mental approach to racing. Bauer also highlighted the positive atmosphere within his team as a crucial element in his development. Training alongside teammate Moritz Ernecker during the winter months provided mutual motivation, while team manager Thomas Traversini’s support both on and off the track helped maintain a focused yet enjoyable environment. This combination of physical preparation and team dynamics has been instrumental in Bauer’s progress and his ability to deliver under pressure. Looking ahead, Bauer remains determined to build on his recent success by honing his speed, consistency, and race intelligence. He aims to maintain the momentum gained from his breakthrough weekend in France and target strong results for the remainder of the EMX125 season.
