Herlings wins French qualification to close up championship standings

After initially trailing teammate Tom Vialle, Herlings quickly took control of the race and maintained his lead on the technical circuit, showcasing the strength of the Honda CRF450RW. Tom Vialle, who had a strong start and initially held second place, suffered a setback when a crash early in the race dropped him to 13th. Despite this, Vialle remains optimistic about the main event, confident in his ability to secure good starts and contend for a podium finish at his home Grand Prix. Fellow Honda rider Ruben Fernandez also began well, running near the front before arm-pump issues caused him to slip to seventh. Fernandez expressed satisfaction with his performance, noting he is closing the gap to the leaders and aiming to challenge more strongly in the upcoming motos. In the MX2 category, Valerio Lata showed promise with a strong start aboard his Honda CRF250RW but was unable to maintain the pace in the demanding weather, finishing 10th. Although disappointed, Lata remains determined to improve and capitalise on opportunities as the season progresses. The extreme heat, with temperatures expected to exceed 30°C, will test all riders’ endurance and strategy during the main races. Team manager Marcus Pereira de Freitas highlighted the squad’s overall strong showing, particularly in the MXGP class, praising the Honda machines’ performance and the riders’ starts. Herlings’ qualification win positions him as a serious contender for the championship lead, while Vialle and Fernandez have demonstrated the speed necessary to fight for podium positions.
