World’s First Heated Carbon Handlebars from Hotbars will Heat Any MTB Grip
Summary By: eMotoX
HotBars has unveiled the world’s first heated carbon handlebars designed to warm any standard mountain bike grips. Unlike traditional heated grips, these handlebars incorporate integrated heating elements within a high-end carbon riser bar, allowing riders to use their preferred grips while benefiting from consistent warmth. The system features a detachable power bank and control unit that powers heating elements at the bar ends, providing three heat settings and up to three hours of runtime per charge, with USB-C fast charging for convenience.
The handlebars are crafted from unidirectional carbon fibre reinforced with glass fibre for enhanced vibration damping, ensuring performance is not compromised by the heating function. Manufactured in Bellingham, Washington, the bars come in a variety of widths and clamp diameters, catering to different riding styles and preferences. Due to the embedded heating elements, the bars cannot be cut down, but they feature an 8° backsweep and 5° upsweep to maintain rider comfort and control.
Designed by former WTB marketer and avid rider Clayton Wangbichler, HotBars aim to improve dexterity and control in cold conditions by eliminating the need for bulky gloves or pogies. The centrally mounted battery pack is positioned to avoid interference with accessories such as lights and GPS units, and the bars are IP65 water resistant. Additionally, removable summer plugs allow the heating cables to be sealed off when not in use, and a storage mode preserves battery health during the off-season.
Priced at $395, HotBars are currently available for preorder with shipping scheduled for autumn 2026. Initial sales will be limited to customers in the United States, with the first 100 buyers receiving a $50 discount as early adopters. This innovative product represents a significant advancement in winter mountain biking gear, promising enhanced comfort and control for riders facing cold weather conditions.
