Wilier's new Rapida aims to entice more people to the brand with 'accessible' pricing
Summary By: eMotoX
Wilier has introduced the Rapida, a new road bike designed to offer the brand’s signature Italian style and racing heritage at a more accessible price point. Starting at €2,899 for a mechanical build and €3,999 for an electronic groupset, the Rapida undercuts Wilier’s flagship Filante by €700 and is significantly more affordable than the premium SLR model. This launch aims to attract riders who desire the prestige of a designer bike without the usual high cost associated with top-tier Italian marques.
The Rapida incorporates many modern features common to high-end road bikes, including aerodynamic tube shapes, integrated headset, and a monocoque carbon cockpit, drawing visual inspiration from the Filante. However, its geometry strikes a balance between pure race performance and endurance comfort, with a stack height and reach designed to provide a low but comfortable riding position. This makes it suitable for both spirited club rides and longer distance efforts, appealing to a broad range of cyclists.
Wilier has also prioritised versatility and stability in the Rapida’s design. The frame allows clearance for 36mm tyres, offering enhanced comfort and all-road capability compared to the Filante, which accommodates narrower tyres. Compatibility with both 1x and 2x drivetrains, alongside the inclusion of the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) standard, further broadens the bike’s usability, making it adaptable to different riding styles and preferences.
The Rapida is available in two build options: an entry-level model featuring a Shimano 105 mechanical groupset paired with alloy Miche wheels, and a higher-spec version equipped with Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting and carbon Miche Asfalto 45 wheels. Both variants come in four colour choices, providing riders with a range of aesthetic and performance options. With this launch, Wilier seeks to expand its customer base by offering a bike that combines brand heritage, modern technology, and practical pricing.
