TotalEnergies recently unveiled a prototype of the Cube Litening Aero bike at the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, but offered very limited information about the machine before swiftly removing it from public view. The prototype was presented to a select group of media representatives under strict embargo, preventing immediate publication of any images or details. Aside from a vague mention of a possible 2028 release date, which seemed unlikely, the team remained tight-lipped, leaving observers to scrutinise the bike’s design and speculate on its features. Visually, the new Cube Litening Aero retains the general silhouette of its predecessor but incorporates several notable refinements. The frame angles appear more compact, partly due to the small size of the prototype on display, and the head tube and fork junction have been reshaped for a more sculpted appearance. A key change is the truncated seat cluster, reminiscent of the Cervélo P5 time trial bike, while the cockpit is dominated by an unusually large and deep handlebar setup paired with a short stem, creating a striking but somewhat unbalanced look. Technical details gleaned from the prototype suggest a focus on aerodynamic efficiency and integration. The fork design features a smooth flow from crown to head tube and down tube, with sufficient clearance for standard 28c or 30c race tyres. The bottom bracket area is wider where the stays join, indicating a structural redesign for stiffness or weight optimisation.
