Tom Pidcock will make his debut at the Eschborn-Frankfurt Classic on 1 May, marking a new addition to his 2024 race schedule. The announcement from his team, Pinarello-Q36.5, revealed that the British rider views the German WorldTour one-day race primarily as a chance to regain race sharpness and build his competitive rhythm following recent setbacks. The Eschborn-Frankfurt Classic, traditionally a sprinters’ race, has been made more challenging this year with multiple climbs, which could suit Pidcock’s strengths as a versatile rider. Pidcock’s decision to participate in Eschborn-Frankfurt comes after a difficult period, including a puncture at Liège-Bastogne-Liège that left him trailing in 101st place and a crash in the Volta a Catalunya that disrupted his Ardennes campaign. Despite these challenges, he has shown promising form this season, including a stage win at the Tour of the Alps and a strong seventh place at Strade Bianche. The German race will serve as a strategic step in his preparation, with no specific expectations placed on his result, allowing him to focus on rebuilding his condition. The 211-kilometre Eschborn-Frankfurt route features several demanding climbs such as the Feldberg, Mammolshain, and Burgweg, which elevate the race’s difficulty compared to previous editions.
