The new tyre aims to deliver a significant reduction in rolling resistance while maintaining the reliable grip associated with the Touareg’s micro-knob design. This launch follows the success of the Caracal Race, which has been recognised as one of the fastest gravel tyres currently available, and represents a notable evolution in Hutchinson’s gravel tyre offerings. The performance gains in the Touareg Race are largely attributed to the integration of Hutchinson’s Mach Thread 3.0 compound and SwiftEasy casing. The Mach Thread 3.0 compound, first seen on the Blackbird tyres, balances durability with speed, achieving a 25% increase in efficiency. Meanwhile, the SwiftEasy casing uses a high thread count and a unique construction method that bonds the protection layer directly into the casing, reducing tyre deformation and cutting rolling resistance by 10%. Together, these technologies deliver a claimed 35% improvement in efficiency compared to the previous Hardskin Touareg version. The Touareg Race will be available in 40mm and 45mm widths, with a new 50mm size introduced to align with current gravel trends, matching the Caracal Race’s size options.
