Sweet Protection Adds New Tucker III 2Vi Mips Aero Road Helmet to Its Lineup
Summary By: eMotoX
Sweet Protection has introduced the Tucker III 2Vi Mips, its most aerodynamic road cycling helmet to date, following its debut at the 2025 Tour de France where it was worn by Jonas Abrahamsen of the Uno-X Mobility Cycling Team during a stage win. The helmet represents the culmination of extensive aerodynamic development, combining lightweight construction with advanced safety features. Designed specifically for high-speed racing scenarios, the Tucker III 2Vi Mips aims to improve performance by reducing drag while maintaining comfort and ventilation.
The helmet was developed in close collaboration with the Uno-X Cycling Mobility Team and Formula 1 aerodynamicist Kyle Forster, utilising wind-tunnel testing and computational fluid dynamics to optimise its shape. Sweet Protection claims the Tucker III reduces aerodynamic drag by up to 10 watts at race speeds of 45 to 50 km/h compared to its predecessor, the Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips. It features a smooth outer shell with aero sculpting and chamfered vent edges to minimise turbulence, while delivering 150% better ventilation through an advanced internal airflow system and rear air duct.
Safety remains a priority with the incorporation of Sweet Protection’s 2Vi technology platform, which includes the Mips Air Node integrated into the helmet padding and internal Impact Shields made from varying foam densities to absorb impacts. The helmet meets CE EN 1078 and CPSC 1203 safety standards, although it has yet to be tested by Virginia Tech. Weighing in at 320 grams for the medium/large size, it is 10% lighter than its predecessor, striking a balance between aerodynamic performance and weight.
Additional features include the 360 Occigrip fit system for precise, adjustable comfort and stability, ponytail compatibility, and integrated eyewear grippers with snap-on aerodynamic covers to reduce drag when not in use. The helmet is tailored for breakaways, solo efforts, and sprints, with a complex internal ventilation structure and a four-shell construction designed to enhance protection and comfort over long rides.
The Tucker III 2Vi Mips is now available to purchase through Sweet Protection’s website, authorised dealers, and online retailers. It comes in a range of sizes and colours, offering riders a high-performance option for competitive road cycling that prioritises speed, safety, and comfort.
