Santa Cruz Announces New Colors and Kits for Bullit and Vala CC eMTBs, Plus “Lite” Builds
Summary By: eMotoX
Santa Cruz Bicycles has announced updates to its Bullit CC and Vala CC electric mountain bike (eMTB) ranges, introducing new colour options, fresh build variants, and integrated features. These updates come shortly after the Sea Otter Classic event, where Santa Cruz traditionally hosts a low-key industry gathering rather than a major product launch. The Bullit CC retains its core design and Bosch CX motor system but now offers two new frame colours—Matte Carbon with Purple Sunset Chameleon graphics and Gloss Purple Smoke with Spring Green accents—alongside two premium build options featuring advanced suspension and electronic drivetrains.
The Bullit CC’s new builds include the XT Di2 Podium RSV and the XO AXS RSV, both equipped with high-end components such as Fox Factory suspension, SRAM brakes, and Reserve carbon wheels. Notably, the XT Di2 Podium RSV integrates a Shimano XT Di2 electronic drivetrain that is hardwired to the bike’s battery, enabling multiple shifting modes configurable through the Bosch app. This level of integration highlights Santa Cruz’s focus on combining performance with cutting-edge technology, while maintaining the bike’s established geometry and suspension travel of 170mm front and rear.
Meanwhile, the Vala CC, which marked a departure from Santa Cruz’s traditional VPP suspension by adopting a four-bar design, receives new colourways and the introduction of “Lite” builds aimed at reducing weight without compromising motor power or battery capacity. The Vala continues to feature 150mm rear travel and a 160mm fork, powered by the Bosch CX system with a 600Wh battery. New build options include the XT Di2 RSV with integrated electronic shifting and a lighter variant that saves around 0.5kg by using a Fox 36 fork and lighter tyres, appealing to riders seeking a more agile yet powerful eMTB.
Santa Cruz’s updates reflect a careful balance between innovation and continuity, enhancing the appeal of their eMTB range with subtle but meaningful refinements. The integration of electronic drivetrains hardwired to the Bosch motor system represents a significant step in streamlining eMTB technology, while the “Lite” builds respond to growing demand for lighter, more efficient electric bikes. These developments suggest Santa Cruz is positioning itself to meet diverse rider preferences, from trail enthusiasts prioritising control and power to those seeking weight savings and refined handling.
