RMU Officially Launches the Nighttrain Enduro Bike With Dave Weagle’s Orion Suspension and Dual Idler

RMU Skis has officially entered the mountain bike market with the launch of the Nighttrain, a long-travel enduro bike designed for aggressive riding and demanding terrain. The Nighttrain features 170mm of rear travel paired with a matching 170mm fork, with an optional downhill build offering a 190mm fork. The bike rides on 29-inch wheels and is constructed from 6066-T6 aluminium, incorporating a unique suspension system developed by renowned designer Dave Weagle. Central to the Nighttrain’s performance is Weagle’s latest Orion suspension platform, which utilises a 6-bar flexstay layout with a mid-pivot and a dual-idler, dual-chain drivetrain. This innovative design aims to deliver efficient pedalling with minimal pedal feedback, enhanced traction over rough terrain, and controlled lateral stiffness to manage braking forces. The dual-idler setup allows for an elevated chainline, improving power transfer and reducing chain wear, making the bike suitable for fast and technical riding. The geometry of the Nighttrain reflects its enduro focus, featuring a slack 63-degree head tube angle for stability on descents and a steep 77.5-degree seat tube angle to aid climbing efficiency. The bike is available in four sizes, each with size-specific chainstay lengths and kinematics to ensure consistent handling across the range. With a reach of 485mm on the large frame, the Nighttrain balances aggressive downhill capability with uphill pedalling comfort. RMU is offering the Nighttrain as a frame-only option or in three complete builds, ranging from a Shimano Deore-equipped model priced at £4,200 to a high-end Shimano XT Di2 version at around £5,900, and a downhill-focused Shimano Saint build costing approximately £5,500. All builds feature premium components including Fox suspension, Race Face wheels, and Maxxis tyres, with the frame alone retailing for about £2,100. The first limited production run is available now, with shipments expected to begin in July. The Nighttrain’s introduction marks RMU’s bold expansion into cycling, combining advanced suspension technology with robust design to compete in the demanding enduro segment. Its innovative suspension system and thoughtful geometry position it as a compelling option for riders seeking a versatile bike capable of tackling rough terrain at high speeds.
