Prologo has unveiled the Choice, a new flagship road saddle that breaks from traditional designs by integrating aerodynamic principles with a repairable construction. Unlike conventional saddles that feature exposed rails beneath the shell, the Choice conceals its Nack carbon rails within the body, covered by flowing side wings to create a seamless, aerodynamic profile. This approach aims to reduce drag and improve airflow around the saddle, positioning it as a component that contributes to the overall system efficiency of rider, bike, and equipment. The Choice was developed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and wind tunnel testing, reflecting Prologo’s ambition to push beyond comfort and support towards enhanced aerodynamic performance. The saddle’s reduced stack height and tighter rail-to-shell connection are designed to increase structural stiffness, which Prologo claims results in cleaner power transfer and more precise handling. This focus on integration and system optimisation aligns with broader trends in road cycling gear, where components are increasingly sculpted to work in harmony for maximum speed and efficiency. Despite its aerodynamic focus, the Choice does not neglect rider comfort. It features a semi-round, T-shaped profile with variable-density foam, refined through Prologo’s Pressure Map MyOwn system to balance comfort and performance. Available in two widths—140mm and 147mm—the saddle measures 240mm in length and weighs 152 grams, offering versatility for a range of riders while encouraging longer time in an aero position without typical discomfort. One of the most notable innovations is the saddle’s modular design, allowing the carbon rails to be detached from the shell with just two screws. This repairability is rare in the premium saddle market, where damage often means replacing the entire unit.
