'One bike that embodies the very essence of the brand' - Colnago launches its latest C Series bike, and it tops out at €22,000

Summary By: eMotoX
Colnago has unveiled its latest addition to the esteemed C Series with the launch of the C72, a bike that continues the brand’s tradition of combining heritage with cutting-edge craftsmanship. The C Series, known for iconic models like the C40 and C50, represents the essence of Colnago’s identity, and the C72 is no exception. Unlike the brand’s top-tier race bikes that feature one-piece carbon frames, the C72 employs a distinctive seven-piece carbon construction, a nod to Colnago’s legacy of carbon lugs, and is produced in limited numbers of just 3,000 frames annually. The C72 is designed as a versatile performance road bike that balances speed with comfort, steering away from the extreme aerodynamic profiles seen in some modern race bikes. Its geometry has been updated to favour endurance, with a higher stack and steeper seat tube angle to improve rider comfort and compliance. The frame’s clean lines and undropped seatstays maintain the classic aesthetic of the C Series, while practical features such as 35mm tyre clearance and an integrated down tube storage compartment demonstrate its all-road capabilities. Colnago has also introduced a new handlebar, the CC.02, which is lighter and offers improved handling compared to its predecessor. The bike will be available as a frame kit or in several complete builds, featuring high-end component groupsets from Shimano, Campagnolo, and SRAM, with prices ranging from around £6,300 for the frame to over £16,000 for the top-spec model. All versions come equipped with Pirelli P-Zero Race tyres and include thoughtful accessories like carbon bottle cages and a frame bag. Adding to the exclusivity of the launch, Colnago has created a limited-edition C72 La Scala, paying homage to Milan’s famed opera house with a striking red, gold, and white colour scheme. Only 72 units of this special edition will be produced, priced at €22,000, underscoring the model’s status as a collector’s piece as well as a high-performance machine. The C72 launch reaffirms Colnago’s commitment to blending tradition with innovation, appealing to enthusiasts who value both craftsmanship and contemporary performance.
