NXT Classic: Tibor del Grosso wins a tense two-up sprint to take a first win of the year

Tibor del Grosso (Alpecin-Premier Tech) secured his first win of the season by out-sprinting Mauro Schmid (Jayco-Alula) after a tense two-man breakaway at the NXT Classic in the hilly Limburg region of the Netherlands. The pair escaped on the final ascent of the Gulperberg and maintained a narrow lead over a chasing group, despite Schmid’s late attack on the Moerslag climb. Del Grosso’s victory came after a strategic final 6km loop, marking only the second professional win of his career in this challenging 196km race featuring 37 climbs.
