New Kashima Formula Cura Brakes Cure Your Fork Matching FOMO
Summary By: eMotoX
Formula has introduced a new version of their Cura brake sets featuring a distinctive Kashima coating, aimed at riders seeking to better match their bike’s components. The Kashima treatment, applied exclusively by Japan’s Miyaki Company, is available on both the caliper and master cylinder of the Cura 4-piston brakes. While the gold-coloured finish adds a premium aesthetic, the coating on the master cylinder’s piston also enhances brake feel by providing smoother operation, without altering the core technical specifications.
The Kashima-coated Cura brakes retain all the performance features of the standard models, including four 18mm thermoplastic pistons, low roll-back seals, and a two-piece lever with a feeling control system. They also offer tool-free reach adjustment and come fitted with sintered pads, with organic pads included in the package. Weighing in at 400 grams with an 85cm hose and a 160mm rotor, the brakes are priced at €310 each, though adapters and rotors are sold separately.
To complement the new brake sets, Formula has launched Japanese Gold anodised two-piece rotors available in 160mm, 180mm, and 203mm sizes. These rotors match the Kashima finish and are compatible with all Formula monolithic and two-piece rotors, providing riders with more options to coordinate their bike’s look and performance. The rotors are priced between €70 and €86 depending on size.
In addition to the Kashima brakes and rotors, Formula has also developed a new brake rotor designed specifically for eMTBs equipped with their Avinox system. This rotor integrates the speed sensor ring directly into the rotor itself, resulting in a cleaner and lighter setup. The Avinox-compatible rotor is a 200mm diameter, 2.3mm thick, 6-bolt design, and will be available from September at a recommended retail price of €80.
These new offerings from Formula highlight the brand’s focus on combining aesthetic customisation with technical refinement, catering to riders who want both high performance and a cohesive look across their electric mountain bikes. The Kashima-coated brakes and matching rotors provide a fresh option in the premium brake market, while the Avinox-compatible rotor addresses the growing demand for integrated eMTB components.
