New Allied ECHO is a Road Bike that Fits 45mm Tires

Allied Cycle Works has unveiled the latest iteration of its ECHO road bike, significantly enhancing its versatility with increased tyre clearance. The new model accommodates tyres up to 45mm wide, a substantial jump from the previous 30mm limit, reflecting the evolving demands of modern road cycling. Designed as a true all-rounder, the ECHO aims to combine speed and comfort across a variety of surfaces, from smooth tarmac to gravel and rougher terrain, making it an ideal choice for riders seeking a single bike capable of diverse conditions. The frame itself weighs 790 grams in size 56 and features geometry that maintains a fast, road-oriented character while subtly adjusting for wider tyres and long-distance comfort. Allied has integrated a new HB10 carbon handlebar paired with the ST03 stem on higher-end builds, creating an aerodynamic front end. The frame supports both 1x and 2x electronic drivetrains, with a removable front derailleur hanger to streamline single chainring setups. Additionally, the Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) compatibility allows riders to fit any rear derailleur, including those with up to 55-tooth cassettes, catering to a wide range of gearing preferences. Practicality is also a focus, with the inclusion of a third bottle cage mount beneath the downtube and a dedicated frame bag mounting point under the top tube, enhancing the bike’s suitability for longer rides without compromising handling. The ECHO is offered in six sizes, from 47cm to 61cm, and four colour options, providing a broad fit range for different riders. Four complete build options are available, ranging from the SRAM Rival XPLR AXS at $6,820 to the SRAM Red XPLR AXS at $11,030, alongside a frameset priced at $4,500. Sam Pickman, Allied’s Director of Product and Engineering, emphasised the bike’s evolution in response to changing road riding styles, stating that the ECHO remains a performance-focused machine but now offers greater capability and confidence across varied surfaces. This approach positions the ECHO as a versatile quiver-killer for riders who want one bike to cover everything from fast road rides to gravel adventures. With its blend of speed, comfort, and adaptability, the new ECHO sets a new standard for modern road bikes that embrace wider tyres and mixed terrain riding.
