Mondraker Introduces Alloy Anark, a Long-Travel Freeride Bike For Simply Shredding
Summary By: eMotoX
Mondraker has unveiled the Anark, a new long-travel aluminium freeride bike designed specifically for gravity-focused riding and bike park adventures. Unlike the brand’s recent electric models, the Anark is a purely mechanical machine, built to withstand the rigours of aggressive downhill terrain. The frame utilises Mondraker’s Stealth Alloy for both front and rear triangles, emphasising durability over lightweight construction, with the complete builds tipping the scales at over 39lbs. This weight is considered acceptable given the bike’s intended use with uplifts or shuttles, where climbing efficiency is less critical.
The Anark features 170mm of rear suspension travel paired with a 180mm fork, aligning it with high-end enduro bikes that still require pedalling to the top. Its suspension system is based on Mondraker’s Zero Suspension System, incorporating elements from their Summum and Zendit models to deliver a balanced ride with 25% progression and near 100% anti-squat and anti-rise at SAG. The bike employs a mixed-wheel mullet setup with a 27.5-inch rear and 29-inch front wheel, and includes a high/low flip chip to adjust geometry, although this does not accommodate a larger rear wheel. The frame also supports a dual-crown fork, provided it remains within the recommended 180mm travel.
Geometry adjustments via the flip chip allow riders to fine-tune the bike’s handling characteristics, slackening the head tube and seat tube angles while lowering the bottom bracket in the “Low” setting. In its standard configuration, the Anark features a 63.5° head tube angle and a 77.5° seat tube angle, with a reach of 480mm and 445mm chainstays, offering a stable yet agile platform for technical descents. The bike is available in five sizes, catering to a wide range of riders looking for a dedicated freeride machine.
Mondraker offers two complete builds for the Anark alongside a frame-only option. The top-tier Anark XR, priced at $6000, includes premium components such as an Ohlins RXF 38 M.3 fork, TTX22 M.2 coil shock, SRAM Eagle 90 drivetrain, and e*thirteen Grapple Core wheels. The more affordable Anark R build, at $4600, features a RockShox Zeb Base fork, Vivid Coil Select+ shock, SRAM Eagle 70 drivetrain, and WTB Sportterra wheels. For those wanting to build their own, the frame-only option is available for $3200, equipped with the Ohlins coil shock. The Anark is now available through Mondraker dealers, inviting riders to embrace the bike park and uplift lifestyle.
