Mondraker Celebrates 10 Years of the Crafty E-MTB Platform with the Crafty Unlimited Icon

Mondraker has marked the tenth anniversary of its Crafty e-MTB platform with the launch of the Crafty Unlimited Icon, a premium edition that celebrates a decade of innovation and performance. Unlike its recent Unlimited Gulf edition, which also featured a Bosch motor, the new Icon model continues to use Bosch’s drive unit rather than the newer Avinox motor found on Mondraker’s recently introduced ZENDIT. This choice reflects both continuity with the platform’s heritage and a commitment to the proven Bosch system, which has been integral to the Crafty’s identity since its inception. The Crafty Unlimited Icon is equipped with the latest Bosch Performance Line CX-R motor, benefiting from a recent software update that boosts torque from 100Nm to 120Nm and increases pedal assistance from 400% to 600%. This upgrade enhances power delivery without compromising control, thanks to new features in Bosch’s eBike Flow app. These include drivetrain pre-tensioning to improve responsiveness on technical terrain, a “Trick Check” function that tracks riding tricks such as jumps and manuals, and expanded customisation options across riding modes. The app also now supports Garmin device pairing, providing riders with additional data monitoring capabilities. Beyond the motor, the Crafty Unlimited Icon boasts a top-tier component build that mirrors the specification of the Crafty Unlimited Gulf. It features high-end suspension from Öhlins, including the RXF 38 M3 fork and TTX22 M.2 coil shock, complemented by DT Swiss Hybrid HXC 1200 wheels and Trickstuff Maxima brakes. The drivetrain is handled by SRAM’s XX-level T-Type groupset, ensuring precise and reliable shifting. This combination of components positions the Icon as a flagship machine designed for demanding riders who expect the best in performance and durability. A notable aspect of the Crafty Unlimited Icon is its bespoke aesthetic, with Mondraker collaborating with local artists such as Jose Luis Romera, Elena Sanchez, and Adri Moralez to create unique frame graphics and hand-painted finishes. While pricing has not been officially announced, it is anticipated to be in line with the similarly specced Crafty Unlimited Gulf, which retails around $16,000, placing the Icon firmly in the high-end e-MTB market.
